Grilled Shrimp and Smoked Sausage Skewers Recipe

About the Recipe

Grilled shrimp and smoked sausage on a stick! WHAT?! You mean no fork or plate needed, Super easy clean up?!?! YES PLEASE

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds smoked beef sausage 

  • 32 medium shrimp peeled and deveined 

  • 1 tablesppon favorite BBQ rub 

  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil spray 

  • 2 tablespoons favorite BBQ sauce 

  • 1 large yellow onion cut into wedges

  • bell pepper cut into wedges

  • 8 wooden skewers soaked in water for minimum 30 minutes

Preparation

Step 1

Soak the wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes (best to let them soak overnight), so they do not burn on the grill. 


Step 2

Cut the smoked sausage into 32 equal-sized pieces. Remove all the shells from the shrimp. 


Step 3

Assemble the skewers by alternating 4 pieces of sausage with 4 shrimp placing onion and bell pepper where you want.


Step 4

Gently sprinkle the sausage and shrimp with the BBQ rub. 


Step 5

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, about 600 degrees F. Spray with oil just before adding the skewers. 


Step 6

Grill the skewers for 5 minutes on each side. 


Step 7

Brush lightly with the BBQ sauce then cook for 1 minute. Turn and add BBQ sauce to the other side and cook for 1 minute or until the glaze sets.  


Remove to a serving plate and serve while hot.
