British Isles Oatmeal Scones

About the Recipe

Oatmeal Scones are easy to make and perfect for breakfast or even a mid morning snack

Ingredients

  • 1 c. whole wheat flour

  • 3 tbsp. sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

  • 1 1/2 c. quick-cooking oats

  • 1/4 c. butter

  • 1/4 c. currants or raisins

  • 1/2 c. milk or water

Preparation

Step 1

Mix the dry ingredients, then cut in the butter until the mixture resembles course meal.


Step 2

Stir in currants (or raisins) and milk (or water), using a fork.


Step 3

When the dough is thoroughly moist, form a ball and pat flat to a thickness of about 3/4 inch. Cut this circle into wedges put onto a greased baking sheet


Step 4

bake at 425 degrees F, for 12 minutes.
